The LRRH Parliament

Through the visionary Leadership of the current Hospital Director of Lira Regional Referral Hospital, Dr. Nathan Onyachi, the hospital parliament was established in October 2022. Our motto is Passion for Excellence!

The parliament is headed by the speaker who is elected through a democratic process that involves voting via the secret ballot. The election process is overseen by the returning officer. The members of parliament are the heads of the different hospital departments, units and sections.

The parliament sessions which are held every Wednesday from 8 am to 10 am, are lively, engaging and full of positive energy! Members of parliament discuss pertinent issues affecting the hospital including challenges, updates and achievements. This parliament saves time, tackles real issues affecting the hospital and ensures timely cascade of critical information to departments, units and sections.

Since its inception, the Hospital Parliament has held 55 parliamentary sessions. During these sessions and from time to time, we receive guests from different Ministries, Agencies, organizations and companies that share with us their services, knowledge and best practices that can improve service delivery.

The Hospital Parliament goes on recess twice a year. The recess which lasts for 1 month takes place twice in a year. That is June and December.

Throughout his distinguished service as a Hospital Director, Dr. Nathan Onyachi has built a reputation of establishing hospital parliaments wherever he has served as the Hospital Director. He led the establishment of successful hospital parliaments at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, Masaka Regional Referral Hospital and now Lira Regional Referral Hospital. No wonder, Dr. Nathan doubles as the chair of the Board of Hospital Directors in Uganda.
